Dressmaking Course

Want to know more about dressmaking? Come along to our 5 or 6 week course in Chelmsford! This course is suitable for those with some basic sewing skills. We will teach you how to take your measurements, choose the pattern size, read the pattern envelope, read and follow pattern instructions and layouts, lay and cut out fabric, identify markings and transfer these from pattern to fabric, cut fabric correctly, sew darts, insert zips, finish seams and create the fastenings to complete the project.

Please note: you'll need to provide the pattern you want to make (if you are a beginner please choose an easy one!), the fabric, cotton and any notions stated on the pattern. For the first session please bring the pattern and the fabric

Something a bit different for Make, Do & Mend but in keeping with our vintage style! You will learn how to do a Victory Roll and Pin Curls as well as hints and tips on make up for achieving that vintage look!

Bring along lots of kirby grips, a rats tail comb, hair putty and the firmest hold hairspray you can find! Remember to have washed your hair the night before.
